Perhaps you were thinking of the French Riviera?

Yes, I was thinking of the French Riviera and for some reason I also was thinking about Corsica. I know France and Italy are totally different, but the French Riviera was stuck in my head along with Corsica.

I always thought Cosica was a part of Italy and then I recently read it's part of France. I read that about 3 days ago.

I feel like such an idot. I know everyone makes mistakes, but still it was pretty dumb of me to think of the French Riviera and Corsica when we were talking about the Calbria Riviera.

Ya, so anyway the Calbria Riviera looks very pretty. Maybe I'll look into visiting that area sometime. The beaches look like Sicilian beaches except with better sand.

Ciao Tutti
Thank you
Melissa don’t worry about...you could not imagine some of the questions I receive thru emails regarding the properties I offer for sale in Calabria. The Calabria Riviera is where I live 3 to 6 months of the year and own property. Unfortunately, there are many travelers who are not well informed with the region of Calabria. Many of the travel tourism so called professionals that write travel articles only know Milano, Florence, Venice, Rome, and Naples.

Off course the reality is different when you are thinking of purchasing a property and deciding to live in Italy, you want the best value for your money plus an area of Italy that will make you happy and fulfill your needs wether it be a Vacation, permmante, or retirement home.
Example Calabria Riviera provides the buyer an Urban lifestyle combined within a resort setting with all the amenities required to live a comfortable and affordable life, that’s the best way too describe it…and that’s a fantastic package!

Other areas of Italy can not offer this package especially when comparing the price “figs with figs” and the affordable cost of living. Yes...Calabria has History, Art, Food and Fashion. What fashion? Yes “Versace” is Calabresse and there is a long list of other famous people from this region that are very seldom mentioned.

How much does property cost in the Calabria Riviera? Not that I would know if it's a good price or not since I've never looked, but I was just wondering.

And do you really want us bossy Americans there? lol

I love Americans including Bush

The prices will vary depending on the condition of the home for sale anywhere from 50,000 to 150,000 for renos or” fixer uppers”. In most cases the good “move in condition” homes start as low 200,000 and Apartments 50,000 and up. I sell and build new quality homes in Calabria for an average price of 250,000 Euros (2000 sqft) 3 or 4 bedrooms. To maintain a home in Calabria it costs a maximum 1500 Euros a year (Taxes, Hydro, Gas, insurance, etc..) divide that by 12 months = 125 Euros a month…wow it sure beats paying rent each month! They also make very good rental income properties when not using them ”solid investments” and provide a great return on investment when you decide to sell them. I will be starting my Property site inspection tours for foreign nationals this June 1st to Sept 20th . The properties are all located along the Calabria Riviera and Lamezia Coast.

The town I suggest you visit when you and your family decide to come for vacation or to buy a home in Calabria is "Amantea" its beautiful The Calabria Riviera-amantea6.jpg
Amantea is my favourite town in Calabria only a few klm south of my own home town of Grimaldi. I believe it is the best area for foreign nationals (English speaking people) to make an easy affordable transition into Italy. I recommend the town of Amantea “The New America” as it is called in Calabria. Why? I love the atmosphere, friendly people, demographics, size and how the future planners nicely developed the area along the sea. Great Restaurants, Shops, Hospitals, Schools, it has it all within walking distances so there is no need to drive all over the place, a very convenient location less than 30 minutes from the Lamezia Terme Airport and major city of Cosenza.

Interesting a large population of the locals in Amantea have families living abroad in North America, Australia, South America, and UK. Foreigners who are not in total command of the Italian language will find it easier to make their transitions in Amantea. Note* The largest populations of Italians living abroad come from Calabria, Sicily, Campania (Naples). I have notice over a four year span that many are returning to their regions... like me. You will find a large amount of the locals in Amantea speak English because of their connections to English speaking relatives living abroad. As a dual citizen, I find living in a town with English speaking people does not affect the cultural appeal or traditional Italian lifestyle as some may think. Actually, quite the contrary, it creates a fun charming and comforting atmosphere speaking mezza...mezza! Why not?.. Ironically the southern Italian region is refered as “il Mezzogiorno” or Meridionale.

Mezzogiorno is Rome (Lazio) south which includes the regions of Molise, Abruzzo, Apulia Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, and sometimes Sicily due to its historical and cultural connections even thou it is an Island.
