Default Best part of Italy in March

Since we had such a good time on our last short visit to Italy in September, we are planning to come back again for a longer stay, but unfortunately we HAVE to travel in March (towards the End). I have done some temperature/weather research on line but have found nothing decisive. I would appreciate suggestions as to the most pleasant region - weather-wise - for that time of year. I'm thinking South-East perhaps?
Thanks.

Hi ursiglass - obviously there are never any guarantees with the weather/temperature, but we have had good weather in March here, and are enjoying some warm, sunny days even now in late November. I personally would go for any area south of Firenze, although it really depends on what you wish to do during your stay - sightseeing in the major towns in summer can be very uncomfortable when it's hot and humid, but a a winter break here by the sea wouldn't be that great if you're not travelling to other areas. Try www.ilmeteo.it and www.3bmeteo.com - they may help. Best of luck.

Thank You, Markymark -- I have been looking at the Southern regions, from Florence southward. We like the relaxed countryside, and try to stay away from "touristy" spots, we also avoid the main travel seasons, that's why our trip to the Parma-area was such a success (see "Update to Emilia-Romagna in September, in "Parliamone".) I have been looking at Puglia - Basilicata - Calabria. Being in Florida, we are used to heat and humidity, but we have to be in Germany in March for my mother's 90th birthday - God willing. I have bookmarked your weather links, they'll be helpful.
Thanks for your input.

Yeah,

I don't live in Italy but I always assumed that in the south it would be too hot in the summer.

Thanks for your helpful links. I have been reading the Travel column here, which is chock-full of good info. I am fascinated with the caves at Matera, and it looks like we'll definitely visit the South, we've also considered Sicily. Why don't I have unlimited time and money?...

All Great to know
We are from WPB Fl. so south Italy is tops on our list and Palermo will be 1st.
Here in South Florida most of the year we are around 80 so you can see why we will go south.
Then I heard, west Sicily Cost is less $$$ than the rest of Italy so we can stay a month we will see this fall 2010.

Who knows just may see you there!

Christiano
