| | Many Chinese people living in Italy. Not just Chinese students
Met a lot of Chinese people in Italy when I went to school there in 2007. They were mostly
students going to the university. Was wondering how many Chinese people actually live in Italy.
Total Chinese people in Italy
145,885
The community of Chinese people in Italy has grown rapidly in the past ten years. Official statistics indicate there are at
least 145,885 Chinese citizens in Italy, although these figures do not account for illegal immigration, former Chinese citizens
who have acquired Italian nationality, or Italian-born people of Chinese descent. In 2007, several dozen protesters took to the
streets in Milan over alleged discrimination. The northern Italian town of Treviso also ordered Chinese-run businesses to take
down their lanterns because they looked "too oriental".
Unlike their counterparts in Britain and Netherlands, where the Chinese are active mainly in the catering service,
in Italy they are active in the production of ready-to-wear garments, leather garments and bags, and woollen sweaters.

That doesn't surprise me. The Chinese is a rather big culture and the Chinese government is inhumane.
I don't know the whole story behind the protest in nothern Italy, so I can't really comment about that. I would need to know the full story behind it.

Judging from my neighbors Pakistan people are a lot like Italians. The only two major differences are the food and the main relgion in the countries. Our neighbors are very much into family, raise their children well, are friendly, can be charming, enjoys food, and adopts to a new country they move to. Our neighbors have family living in Rome. They visited them in Rome once and really enjoyed Rome.
As far as chiense food goes....The vegitarian dishes are okay, but not one of my favorite foods. I'm not too crazy about rice.
(I edited to use the word charming rather than sneaky).

One time I ate it 5 days in a row. California has more Chinese people than anywhere
else in the U.S. Our San Francisco, California China town is huge and we also have a sizeable China Town in Los
Angeles that I've been to more times than I can count. I go to the Chinese ristorante where only Chinese people
go. In Perugia they have several Chinese ristorante that are good.
My next door neighbor is a Chinese teacher. She's teaching me Chinese. The people across the street
are Chinese too. I like that traditional Chinese music.
Italy and China have a special cultural relationship since Marco Polo went to China and brought back the noodles
for you know what. You guessed it spaghetti. So to me it seems naturale e normale that there are a lot of Chinese people
in Italy considering the history of Marco Polo and all. Marco stayed in China per molti anni. Unlike Melissa he liked
Chinese food. LOL!

Sneaky=shifty, underhanded, dishonest, devious, surreptitious, treacherious, shifty... Not a very good word to describe a whole group of people.
Forse you are using the word to mean something else besides the above. Spero di si.

I thought I saw this thread before, about many Chinese live in Italy.
Chinese are everywhere, not only in Italy, but also many other countries.
and Melissa1982:"Chinese government is inhumane." I really can't agree with you about that.

why can't you agree with Melissa about Chinese government?
surely our cultures are different and I don't understand many things about Chinese world, but I am certain that it isn't a Humane government.. what do you think about Tibet situation?
do you know that in China, if a guy in internet search anything about Tiananmen he can find only the story and the pictures about the square but nothing about the protests that made it famous? if there isn't freedom and free press it is a dictature.. I havn't ever known a human dictature..

a special connection between China and Italy. When most people think of Italy they do not think of China yet
historically speaking there is that special Marco Polo China/Italy connection. For example when you think of
Spain or France you don't see any cultural or otherwise connection with China even though there are Chinese
in both those countries.
A proposito, did you know that Cuba had a president that was part Chinese?

I don't think it's fair to judge a whole country as an inhumane one just because the current governers made dectator decisions, every country has some corruption going on that doesn't mean it's an inhumane country.
