I am just curious what's up with young Italians displaying the peace/victory hand sign (index and middle finger in shape of a V)?
I have seen this quite a bit in photos of young people from Italy. I was just reminded of it on the main Life in Italy page that has an article featuring the new Miss Italia. In the photo she is displaying the sign.
Is there some special significance or is it just a current fad (like it was in the USA back in 1960/1970's)?
Ah! Grazie. Yes. I learned the hard way the difference between "facciamo la corna" (sp?) - making the horns down - and the "other one" making the horns up. LOL.
I don't know about the V sign in Italy. In post soviet Russia V sign became a symbol of being cool and modern and reach (many new Russians adapted it). Would be curoius to find out what it means in Italy.
On a separate note could anybody explain to me what "facciamo le corna" su e giu mean? What is the difference between the two. Sorry I really don't know, plus I'm a woman, meaning even if I'm in a relationship and my parter is not faithful to me I cannot be "cornuta" :-) it is only men's privilage I guess. haha.
