Default Pizza delivery

Some of my students and I were wondering if Pizza delivery exists in Italy or anywhere in Europe. I told them that I didn't think so but would check into it. Any thoughts?

Pizza delivery arrives in Italia ten years ago. Unfortunately it does not work well, because the Italians are suspicious of this system, and still prefer to go and eat pizza in Classic Pizzeria.

In Italy the concept of "take-away food" did not spread very ... rather it is the young people to make greater use, following the American style seen on TV for years.

I didn't think they had pizza delivery either. It seems like Italians prefer to make their own food if they eat at home.

I guess you learn something new everyday.

Let's say it's not widespread, and in very different ways from US.
Not the classic American boy on a scooter.
A lot of pizzerias do pizza delivery but they are rarely asked to.

Usually if I want a pizza without sitting at a table I go to the pizzeria with my car, tell it, wait 10 minutes and take away pizza. Actually I do this every Friday, which is the pizza+movie day for me and gf.

I suppose it can be different from zone to zone. Where I live there are several pizzerie which offer the home delivery service, plus a couple of take-away and classic pizzerie.

Here in Rome, pizza delivery is quite common. Not only pizza, but other foods too.

I'm fortunate, tomorrow a handsome Italian man will cook 20+ pizzas for me and my friends... No home delivery though.... Even though we're in the US.... We'll go to his house to eat fresh hand made Italian pizzas.

I believe this is how it should be.. well everywhere. Pizza is more than just food to fill you in... it is a social experience. And here in the US people forgot about it or they're too busy...

As I am "allergic" to dairy, I don't get to eat pizza much.

I do sometimes make it without cheese, but really: what's the point of pizza without cheese?

In the US, pizza is just quick food...I don't know anyone who makes their own (except me but that's just 'cause of my dairy issue).
