Smile One Way Ticket to Italy

Ciao,
I am going to be travelling to Italy next month. Would I encounter any problems if I have just a one way ticket before i depart and then buying a one way ticket back to the U.S when I am Italy?

Any help would be most appreciated!

Grazie mille!

Piccola, I assume you are an American citizen? You should check with the U.S. State Department . They usually have info like that. I think the problem would be the other way around ,if you weren't a U.S. Citizen.
Good luck, but aren't roundtrip tickets usually cheaper than one way?
Welcome to the Forum.
Ciao,Dan

Thanks Danno, I'm going to be travelling to France after Italy and wanted to fly out from there back to New York. I used to live in Virginia and went to Christopher Newport University, so I know the Tidewater area pretty well. On my list to visit in Italy is Florence, Verona, Milan, Roma, and want to try to make it down to Napoli. Any places of interest I should check out?

Ciao Piccola. Che bel nome. When somebody says one way ticket it sounds
like they are going to stay forever or for a very long time. At any rate
I'm going to do just the opposite of what you're going to do. Will fly
to France, stay with some friends and then go to Italy. Was planning on
getting a round trip tickey come sempre but would be interested on knowing
what you end up doing. Like Danno says it's always cheaper to get a
round trip ticket.

You have a good list of places to visit in Italy, Piccola. Many people
miss Verona. If you go to Verona don't fail to go to Lago di Garda
the biggest lake in Italy. Lago di Garda is right next to
Verona. Verona is forse the best city to visit in Italy and as if
this wasn't enough it has the largest lake in Italy right next door.
Verona by the way is known as "La Roma Piccola" (Little Rome) because of
the Roman Arena www.arena.it and other Roman ruins there.
(Verona is only second to Rome in magnificent Roman ruins.) Wow!
The Roman Arena in Verona looks like the Roman Colosseum in Rome. http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildi...Colosseum.html
"Ma" the Verona Colosseum is more intact and is still used today.
Non dimenticare che Verona is the city of Romeo and Julieta making
it a very romantic city to say the least.

If you're going to Napoli then you got to go to Pompeii and Capri.
Pompeii is probably one of the most interesting places on earth.
Herculaneum is another town to visit. Herculaneum was a smaller town
with a wealthier population than Pompeii at the time of its destruction.www.roman-empire.net/articles/article-011.html

Personalmente mi piace molto Capri. Molto bella! The Grotta Azzurra Capri’s Blue Grotto is known throughout
the world for its size and beauty. Il mio colore preferito e azurro, a proposito. www.capri.com/en/grotta-azzurra
You can go inside the cave in a rowboat come io or even swim in there.

Default going to Napoli

I would agree with Villa on Pompeii but I really prefer Ercolano (Herculaneum). It is a bit smaller and more preserved than Pompeii, besides they are always working on Pompeii and you can't always get into the places you wanted to.
Capri is my wife's favorita! She would take the hydrofoil out there all the time just to get away. It is very expensive though and as far as the Blue Grotto goes, I think it's a rip off! First you pay a fee to take the boat out there and then if you want to go in the grotto you have to pay the boatman a fee and a tip! But if you have never seen it it may be worth it to you .The Amalfi Coast is to die for! Our favorite town was Minori, you can sit in the piazza and watch the world go by and the hotels there are very reasonable, about 45 euro per night and includes breakfast! There is wonderful little Limoncello factory there that is run by due sorrelle and they taught me a lot about making it.
The best time to do the Amalfi coast is in the Fall and the Spring. Not many tourists there and if you go in the middle of the week , all the better.
Positano and Sorrento are also Beautiful and if you get a chance go up to Ravello!
If I still lived there , I would give you the tour!!

Wow, I'm very excited and can't wait to begin my adventure. I will be leaving at the beginning of August. I am part of Theatre troupe that will be performing for the U.N. Human Rights Conference in France and they will be paying for my ticket to come back to the U.S. That's why I bought the 1 way to Italy. I'll definitely tell my boyfriend of these places you recommend. He lives right outside of Treviso and I'll be staying with him for the month. Buon Giorno and grazie!

Ciao!
