Being a female foreigner, I find Italian women as a whole are friendly and interested in conversation if you speak Italian that is.

On another note I have found them also to be quite rude. Several have actually made advances to my husband right in front of me!! In the village I am living, there are some outrageous flirts. The incident of ex-marital affairs is rampant here. Maybe that's because it's such a small village or maybe because it seems the village is stuck in the 1960s I have to say life here is better than watching Bold and the Beautiful!!!!!

Maybe pretend to be married and watch them flock to you!! No only kidding. My husband has told me it requires a lot of work to woo an Italian woman. He said this was mainly due to the male to female ratio in Italy. ie there were significantly more men than women in Italy, I'm not sure how true this is and on what information he has based this on.

In this village there are so many men who are 45 and older who are still single and looking for love. Many of them travel to places like Brazil a couple of times a year in the hope of finding love and for other things too I'm sure! Now once again I'm not sure if that's due to there not being enough Italian women around or if that's because the men over 45 here are Mummy's boys and want to find a woman to do everything for them bar wipe their bottoms!

So Terry to me it looks like the Italian women can afford to be choosy when it comes to men. I found Italian men to be very straight forward almost sleazy the first time I encountered them. Maybe the secret with Italian women is to try a different approach. Subtlety may be the key..... That's my theory anyway!

I'll be in Italy in a few weeks and will do some research on Italian women. Then I'll report back to the forum.

I really do not see any reason why there should be a large disparity. If there is any there should be more women since women tend to live longer ( 5 years is the average ). Anyway I never heard of a larger population of man than women. Well except recently in China due to years of single child policy enforced by the governemnt ... but this is another story.
Sounds like you are having fun at the village. i live in the US and nothing like that... well at least nothing like that openly !
