Default I liked this!

When I went to visit Sicily there were obituaries hanging up on bulliten boards rather than just in a newspaper. They were of normal everyday people. For some reason I really liked that. It showed that they had respect for one another.

I don't know if that was a Sicilian thing or if it's done all over Italy since I've never heard about it being done. It might be something simple and normal for those who live in Italy, but I thought it was something special.

Also, I already knew that Italians had pretty grave yards, but I enjoyed seeing that in person as well. It shows that they want to respect and take care of their loved ones even after they die. Where I come from grave yards are so simple compared to the ones in Italy and some Spanish countries. It always annoyed me that my family was unable to to get a nice tomb stone for my grandmother because of the extremely high price. Also there aren't fresh flowers on most of the tomb stones like there are in Italy.

I know I probablly sound like a freak, but I really do love that about the Italian culture.

Talking Italian cemetries

Villa Hi!
I also love to visit Italian cemetries. They are so beautiful and I have taken lots of fotos of the memorial tombs. The really big ones are spectacular and cost an arm and a leg. In fact I think they sometimes take out a'mortgage' to pay for them.
Also you very rarely see any dead flowers, they are so well looked after by the families.
My Italian friend Mario tells me that when we pass the cemetry at night and see the little votive lights on that it is disco evening!!
