Default dual citizenship application questions

Help!! I am currently applying for dual citizenship. using the Italian consulate in New york. Have gathered the required documents and on studying them have noticed that there are some spelling discrepancies. I have some specific questions related to this and need to talk to someone who has gone through or is going through the process, preferably dealt with or has dealth with the New York embassy and who can advise me on how to deal with the discrepany issues. I would be so grateful. My email address is bellassaitango@hotmail.com if you want to do it that way. Mille grazie, Tangobunny

You may want to ask m1ke_l, as i believe he was dealing with the NY embassy for dual citizenship.

I have also gathered all my doc's and am heading to the Boston embassy on Dec 17th!!!!

I have something odd in my paperwork...2 things actually:

My grandmothers name is different between her records and my grandfathers birth day on his birth cert is different than the birth day on his death cert.

I'm not sure how either of these will play out, but I hear they have to be very accurate to move forward.

If you can wait till Dec 17th I'm sure I will have more information.

If there are discrepancies in any of the documentation, such as different names, incorect spellings or different dates, be prepared as you may likely encounter some frustrations. In my experience, the problems normally come from the Italian side and not from the consulate.

My suggestion is that you seek advice from the consulate because, as with all things when dealng with the wheels of Italian bureaucracy, different regions, provinces and comuni have their own specific ways of doing things.

Very sound advice - my (Italian) wife has trouble because her passport has "Maria P." as her middle names, instead of "Maria Paola" - try to correct everything first if you can

Hi mike, um....how are you dealing with those discrepancies before your dec 17 embassy appointment? Congrats on that btw. also, from all the reading I've done on all the various message boards, it seems to me that Boston is the most agreeable and friendliest of the embassies to deal with. Best of luck. Cordiali saluti. And yes, I will be eager to hear how it all went! tangobunny
