Default Child Support in Italy

I am just wondering what the laws are like for child support in Italy. In Canada they are ok but only if the father cares about his children.

The worst is my ex works for an Italian company that drills for oil in Thailand. The company he works for wont give the Canadian government any of his information therefore he basically gets away with paying peanuts. (Which by the way he doesnt pay).

My children have seen 2 payments in 2 yrs, and only because he had to make a payment in order to get his passport back.

I have made it my mission to fight the laws that protect these parents who dont pay. I am wondering if we do get our Italian citizenship, would the Italian government help us then?

My Nona says it would be alot cheaper and better for the kids if they just received the orphins benifit. They would get thier cheque every month and the medical benifits would be covered and also their university would be paid for . LOL , She is right but karma would come back and bite me in the butt.

Ciao Jeanette. I really sympathize with you. My daughter is basically going through the samething you are but here
in California.(She has two kids.) Her ex-husband was making over $350,000 a year when they were married. He claims
now that they are seperated that he can barely make it with the new wife and two kids he has with the new wife. He hasn't
given my daughter any money in awhile.(The bad economy and all.)Of course he has two brand new expensive cars.
My daughter can't even make the payments on her new house. Guess who has to help out. It's a mess.

That is horrible and it is soo common. Our governments really have to step up and do something about this. If we mothers were to tell the kids that we cant afford to feed them, and there for they can only have bread and water, we would be in serious trouble with children services, so why arent the fathers who are just as responsible for the well being of these poor children. I am slowly but surely getting some responses but no changes in the laws as of yet.

When I was a child things were different, but my mom's Italian parents made us live with them and life was great. I thought that was how every family was but my anglo friends reasured me that not all families were like that.

That is why I am soo curious as to the child support laws in Italy. The children are the most important thing to any Italian family that I know.
