I just received 3 emails from Denise asking how is garlic used as a medicine.
I think Jonathan might have an answer for this one.

Default Garlic

Hello, thank you for your 'kind' enquiry regarding garlic, having only just
received your three emails I will respond to you immediately.
Garlic has been used as a medicine for thousands of years as it contains
various sulphur compounds, one of which being alliin. If eaten raw it can
expell worms, aid blood conditions and various other conditions, as it is a
strong antioxidant, however it can now be bought in the pharmacy in various
forms.
I am a landscape architect who is interested in creating gardens that can
provide medicine, amongst other things. However I am not an holistic Doctor,
so I will send you a web-page that I hope you find useful.
Regards, Jonathan.

Default Garlic for horses

Hi All,

When I worked on a horse ranch for two years (very rustic, the high mountains of Colorado (USA) with no vet for 50 miles) we used garlic poultices for everything a horse needed first aid for. Cuts, scrapes, saddle sores, deep cuts (branches, wire) and just general soreness.

Hot water and tons of garlic - fresh, powdered - mixed together to desired thickness. It's magic how well that warm wet stuff, rubbed gently on an injury - often a serious one - worked. Most of the time the injury healed quickly, and with no scars at all.

Garlic was well known on the ranches in the area as a cure for just about anything that didn't involve a broken bone.

Teresa

Default Garlic for Curing

Garlic is a magical plant. I have been experimenting with it for years, and trust is souly, but only in its fresh form.
It has anti-viral and anti-bacterical properites. It is highly effective to
relieve yeast infections, herpes, and to strengthen the immune system during flu seasons.

For yeast infections: you only need to cut a fresh garlic clove in
half and insert both, you may do this before retiring and then replace them with fresh garlic for the day- until the yeast is gone. *Your diet must be strict during this time--if you are willing to cure yourself naturally. A non-yeast diet is free of: fermented foods, this means cheeses, mushrooms, alcohol, black tea and coffee-- NO sugar in any form, green apples and grapefruits are ok. (Fresh) Meats are ok. No cereals or grains NO bread. If may seem impossible but its not and if you wait ir out 5-6 days you will see that you can cure yourself!

For Herpes: Cut the fresh garlic in a thin slice and place on the lip directly until it stops stinging. replace every so often until the herpes dries up.
I gave this advice to a priest who didnt believe me, he then tried this method in private, in a few hours he came out estastic! The herpes was already healed and crusted in a few short hours. I have tried endless different cures for this and nothing works better than fresh garlic.

Default Garlic's healing properties

Garlic consists of various sulphur-containing compounds like alliin which have healing properties. Crushing or chopping garlic helps kick off enzyme reactions which leads to the formation of other compounds. Research points out that the resultant compounds could lead to various beneficial effects such as pain relief and properties such as anti-worm, antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antioxidant, and anticancer. Garlic is also good for diabetics because it is blood glucose lowering. It is great for people with hypertension because it lowers blood pressure. Heavy drinkers often resort to garlic for liver protection as well.

Regular use of raw or lightly cooked garlic may help lower cholesterol and prevent blood clots and spasms, act as an expectorant and alleviate swellings and sores. Care should be taken, however, while having garlic because it interferes with other medicines. A doctor should always be consulted if you have recently undergone surgery, or take regular medication for any chronic conditions and plan to take regular doses of garlic. Garlic is good for the skin as well because it removes impurities in the blood, and prevents acne. Traditional uses also include garlic boiled extracts to treat coughs and colds.
