Default Do You know the Name of this Roman Plant?

To anyone who may be able to spot the name of this plant.
someone told me two of its leaves are used in Rome's symbol, it has long stems with big white flowers on the ends, and is bushy and has glossy leaves.
When its pods are packed they pop making a loud PPP! and the seeds fly everywhere! Please it is urgent I find out the name of it!

Thank you !

Default Could it be a Pomegranate?

Hi jacqueline,

Sort of sounds like a pomegranate - it's a bush with glossy leaves and a fruit that is packed with seeds. However I think they have reddish blossoms and I don't know if they shoot their seeds. The Romans and Egyptians had a thing for the fruit and considered it a symbol of power - among other things.

Not 100% sure but it sounds similar....I'll keep looking

Justin

Ciao Jacqueline

I think the plant you are talking about is called Impatiens. It can grow quite large, The New Guinea variety has shiny leaves. Many diiferent colored blossoms. And yes it shoots its seeds. I hope this helps.

Best Eduardo
