Is vino sfuso (bulk wine) worth looking for? We will be returning to Italia for our 7th year in guigno. We have heard of, but never tried, vino sfuso. Is it worth our time and effort to purchase a 3 o 5 litri container and search out a cantina o enoteca to have it filled?
Well - if you go to any wine producing region vino sfuso is all over the place. It should be easy to find. I think it has the advandage of not containing sulfites. I drink it sometime if I go to the Frascati area near Rome or in Montefiascone / Bolsena where they have the Est Est Est -
If you like the taste or not it is up to you, in any case it does not keep long since sulfites, that work as stabilizer, are not present -

On a similar topic - vino alla spina. I had a quarto of rosso in Anguillara Sabazia, on Lago di Bracciano, and it was refreshing, slightly frizzante. Since then I've never encountered it again. Is it unusual to find a place that offers vino alla spina?
Paolo, I believe all wines contain sulfites, some less than others, but from what wine experts have told me , you can't get away from it because it comes from the soil. Please correct me if I am wrong.
