I don't know if this is the best chocolate in the world, but it has a nutty-caramel flavour, the 70% bitter chocolate Porcelana from Amedei in Tuscany. I was amazed to see that production of it is restricted to 20,000 bars each time. Not a general fan of bitter chocolate, this is delicious.

Default “Three best Italian chocolatiers”

By the way, there is an interesting article on chocolate in Italy: “Three best Italian chocolatiers” - it’s tells about “Amedei “, “Domori“ and “Antica Dolceria Bonajuto” on
http://www.italymag.co.uk/italy-feat...n-chocolatiers
Purtroppo, non ho assaggiato mai né primo, né secondo,.. (né terzo).
Could anybody tell about these brands?
I,for my part, like Toblerone and Côte d'Or.

Ciao e Buon Anno Nuovo!

Indeed, Villa, Italy has more master chocolatiers than both France and Belgium put together, both long considered to be top of the league in chocolate. Tuscany does have a reputation for innovative and world beating chocolate producers, and the area between Florence and Pisa has been dubbed chocolate valley. I'm so happy to live here. I started research on Cioccolato Slitti, in Monsumano Terme, followed by Caniparoli in Lucca, and you can read about them both on A new life in Tuscany, the post for May 17 called In search of chocolate.
Amadei have won the title you mentioned for three years and they are on my list for the next tasting, along with Chocolat in Lucca and de Bondt near Pisa. But right now it's a bit too hot! So a pleasure in store for autumn, along with the january chocolate festival in Florence.
Ciao,

Liz Taylor
