Default Gnocchi

For the past two days at the store I have been cooking with gnocchi. It is always fun for me when I get to introduce Italian ingredients to this southern crowd.

I got every kind of responce that you could imagine; Did you say DONKEY? What the hail (southern for hell) is that? Oh wow, scallops!

I make mine with ricotta and put what ever I want on top. Olive oil & garlic or simple tomato sauce.

What do you put on your Gnocchi?

Default Two ways

Twila, I like to take a couple tablespoons of butter and saute some fresh sage leaves until the butter starts to turn a little brown and add the gnocchi to it.
another favorite is Al Forno, place the gnocchi in an oven proof dish and add some pasta sauce and cover with fresh mozzerella and bake till bubbly. Yummo!

Default simple

I made gnocchi from scratch for the first time yesterday. I just like to put tomatoe sauce on mine. Cinnamon and butter sound good too! yum!

Thumbs up Gnocchi

I tried two recipes from Biba who runs a restaurant in California. She's from the Emilia Romagna region and makes one sauce for gnocchi with sauteed pancetta and sage and another with gorgonzola and cream. Both are delicious over "nude ravioli" or ricotta gnocchi.

My avitar is from one of the cooking classes I went to in Italy, I went to six of them! If you ever get a chance to go to one, you won't regret it. I learned so much by watching and doing. In one of the classes we all met at a local mercato and the teacher walked us through the isles and we planned the menu right then and there, we bought all of the products and then went back to a home and cooked. That was really a great way to learn as most Italian women go to the store daily to pick out somehtng for the days meals.
So, whose place are we going to meet at to cook?
