FOOD BEST SYMBOLISES ITALY, POLL FINDS
(ANSA) - Rome, August 8 - More than its art and culture
it is Italy's food which best symbolises the country,
according to a vast majority of Italians.
A poll published Friday by the Coldiretti farmers' union
found that 63% of Italians thought that Italy was best
represented by its food, cuisine and wine, compared to 24%
who indicated art and culture and 8% who thought it was
fashion.

Food was also what 45% of foreign tourists remember most
about their visits to Italy, according to another poll from
the Pieopoli Institute.
The tourists who were most impressed by Italian cuisine
were the Swedes (70%) and Americans (58%), while the Chinese
and Russians appeared to be the least impressed by Italy's
culinary delights, which appealed to 31% and 28%
respectively.
