Default Bucatini

What's up with this... I order bucatini and they serve spaghetti... what, do they think I can't tell the difference?

Did this happen in Italy or in US?
It just doesn't look like something they'd do in a real Italian Restaurant at all!

It was in Rome... they probably thought that, as a tourist, I wouldn't notice. I had this happen 3 times over a two week trip and wondered if there was some sort of bucatini shortage in Italy. :-)'

I have never seen bucatini on restaurant menus here but we don't go out for Italian food much since it's better at home than the options we have nearby.

Is it becoming less common to see bucatini served in restaurants in Italy? I consider it a real treat!

Wow I just didn't imagine it possible! Did you complain? I almost never go to restaurants so I don't know if bucatini are common there.

No, I didn't complain but I got in the habit of asking the waiter specifically about it afterwards instead of just assuming they'd get my order right. In the big picture it's not that important but I knew that someone here would appreciate this small rant.
