Hi, My Uncle is retiring and selling off his farm land. I have the opportunity to purchase one of the houses on the land along with a substantial olive grove which sits in front of the house for a very, very good price, around a fifth of the market value. He tells he its as simple as he has a document drafted which we both sign, I pay him and the property is mine - it can't be that simple? I trust my uncle 100% as we are very close, but do I need to get legal council? What taxes do I need to consider? I already own my own property in the UK where I live. Although I was born in the UK I have duel nationality if that helps.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all

I have just bought a property in Italy which i was aware that had unpaid condo fees and was informed i was liable to pay the previous two years. Jan 2008 to dec 2009 financial years. The costs were explained in detail with the administrator and i agreed to pay.

Now they have told me i also have to pay for major works that were carried out in 2007 but not paid for until Jan 2008...the administrator has apologised and said that at the time she didnt think we were liable as were approved and done in 2007 but has now changed her idea and told us we must pay. She runs different balance sheets..one for the normal everyday condominuim expenses and seperate balance sheets for extra works...obviously we have never seen this one.

Has anyone of this group had a similiar experience or anyone with any advise would be appreciated.
I wouldnt mind if they were only a few hundred but they run into the thousands.

Many thanks in advance

Regards

Hi,
I am new to this board. I am a dual citizen living in the US and we purchased a beautiful apartment in Italy 2 years ago. We fell in love with the location which is Castiglione del Lago.

We were lucky enough to have friends who lived there who walked us through the whole buying process and gave us our dream.

We would now like to do the same for other foreigners wanting to purchase property in Italy. There is no pressure whatsoever we are just trying to get the word out about these beautiful properties. The website is a work in progress and your feedback is appreciated.

Thank you,
Jennifer
