I'm looking for information on my Grandfather, James Vincent Peluso, born in Sant Angelo a Scala, Avellino, who moved to the USA as a teen right around 1900. His sister, Rose was the last known living relative in that area. If anyone might know of this family or how I might find documentation from local officials, I would be most thankful to hear from you.

Hi. My maiden name is Mundier. My great-grandfather born February 26, 1858 left Italy some time around 1878 give or take a few years. As everyone in my family has heard the story. He left rather quickly since he was supposed to have killed a priest for rapping his sister. Mateo and his wife Emma had 13 children, unfortunately he never taught them Italian. The rest of the story as my cousin tells it. He would go to the Lancia pasta factory in Toronto to buy pasta in bulk. One day at the loading dock, with my cousin in tow. He got mad at one of the workers there and started yelling at him in Italian. My cousin asked another what he was saying and he was told. “You don’t want to know he is speaking Sicilian.” By the way we have all been taught to cook and this tidbit of language we can only surmise he came from southern Italy. There are Mundiers in Slovenia all descended from a common ancestor, as we in North America are. We are not sure how much the name changed if at all since there are Mundier’s elsewhere in Europe. We would like to continue the search further into Italy if anyone can help us.:)
