Since we had such a good time on our last short visit to Italy in September, we are planning to come back again for a longer stay, but unfortunately we HAVE to travel in March (towards the End). I have done some temperature/weather research on line but have found nothing decisive. I would appreciate suggestions as to the most pleasant region - weather-wise - for that time of year. I'm thinking South-East perhaps?
Thanks.

This link (the best of them) Trip Report will take you to my dad's site, with his notes on the trip and links to his pictures (he is an excellent photographer!).
For the record, this link Italy 2009 was our expected itinerary, though we did not stick to it very religiously.

HELLO!
Me and a friend of mine are looking to visit Italy somewhere in the Abbruzzo region. However we don't really want it to be like a vacation on a resort or a tour of the region. We would like to sort of live like a local, out of a regular hotel or appartment. Any ideas on how we could do that or other websites to visit?!?!
Grazie!!

I'm a solo traveler and renting an apartment for a month or more in Rome or in another city is for me out of question. Simply too much money paying for accommodation.
I advertise on Easystanza.com as a young lady who looks to rent a room in a center of Rome. I get showered every day with offers to rent a room from people who look for a flat-mate.
Does anybody have some experience with renting a room in an apartment?

Just wondering too if Italians are still going a lot to Cuba come prima adesso. There is a movie called Azucar Amarga where this Italian tourist gets involved in a love triangle in Cuba. He speaks Italian to them while they speak Spanish back to him and they have no trouble communicating.

I've seen in Italian movies where they talk about going to Cuba and have heard a lot about Italians going to Cuba along with Germans and other European tourists.

Is there a particular region of Italy that would be ideal for an American who is travelling to Italy for the first time? I was thinking that Tuscany would be good since the diet there is rich in meats much like the American diet. Americans may also feel at home in a place like an Osteria which resembles American taverns. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I visited Tuscany last October on my first visit to Italy - it was as breath - taking as I imagined having looked through every guidebook I could get my hands on. A helpful guide I used was Hidden Italy: an independent and alternative guide to Italy, particularly Le Marche and Abruzzo

Question, Ferry -Palermo to Naples

I will need to travel as a tourist from Palermo to Naples in early January 2010. I could easily travel by train, but I'm feeling a bit adventurous, and I'd like to take the ferry instead.

I'm Australian, aged 64, I like a bit of comfort in my old age, but I'm used to roughing it a bit.

What Im wondering is that If I book a shared cabin for the night on the ferry, who might I have to share it with?

Has anyone here traveled on this ferry?
I'd love to hear what they have to say.

Hi!

I'm a filmmaker from Sweden and I'm preparing a film story that takes place in Italy. I have been around some, but it was a while ago, and I'd just like to get some advice about good locations.

What I am searching for is a coast village, rather small, that is beatifully and dramatically set right at the sea, preferrably with azur-blue sea and high rocks/mountains surrounding. The village itself should be "climbing" on the mountain and should be full of old houses, a very traditional atmosphere with medieval roads and houses etc. It would be good also if a city is not too far away.

Any good tips?

Thanks

Urban
