When It Comes To Weather - It's All Relative

I was reading a post this morning on the Life in Italy forum about winter time in Florence:

The post by forum member James.Derek reminded me of my own experiences traveling through Italy during the cooler months. It is true, one person's winter is another person's spring.
The winter of 1995/96 was a very cold and snowy one for New England and two months before I would visit Italy for the first time I was unloading fishing boats in full-on blizzards.
So imagine my delight to visit Southern Italy in early March. By the time I reached Naples I was wearing a T-shirt and Jeans and all the older ladies were still wearing their fur coats - everytime they glanced at me they would pretend to shiver and wrap themselves tighter. This might have still been winter/early spring for Neapolitans, but I was sweating.
One day my friend and I were surrounded by a group of kids wanting to try out their english. The first thing they asked was "are you cold?" since they were all wearing jackets. When I told them that where we were from this is considered nice weather, they all laughed.
Conversely, I remember when I was a kid one of my neighbors arrived from Sicily and experienced her first snowstorm. Before that She only saw it on TV and didn't realize that it was cold when you touch it. As for me, Italy in the late summer was just too hot - I guess when it comes to the weather my upbringing overrides my ancestry.
