I have a house in Puglia which I bought in 2005. I am slowly beginning to want to get involved in the local Italian community and want to learn about the political structure. I am particularly interested to know how one goes about contacting the local MP. Do they have a surgery the way the English MP's do? If so, where do I find out the details - anyone know?

I thought I'd say hi and welcome you to the Forum. I envy you your house in Puglia... we are looking for a place to buy (probably near Umbria/Tuscany) but haven't yet done it. Any advice about buying in Italy?

I certainly think you'll get answers much more informative than mine here about getting involved with your local community... the only advice I would have would be learn Italian (do you already speak it???!), visit the local market and shops and make yourself a daily visitor so they know you're part of the area, and speak to everyone.

I'll be curious to see what others say!
