Hi everyone, I am new here. My name is Salvatore. I am originally from NY now living in TN. I am very fascinated with Italy and my Italian heritage. I use to go to Italy often when I was 13-18. My fathers family is from Procida and moms family is from Sicilia. I love to learn about my ancesters. I lost contact with my family in Italy. I am begining to think my grandfather past away. Well anyway thats a little about me.

Ciao Salvatore, my ex boyfriend was Salvatore! One thing.....you must be in shock coming from NEw York and ending up in the deep south of Tennesee

I doubt there are any Italians there, correct me if I am wrong...
Benvenuto!

Yes a big culture shock. I get teased all the time for being a yankee. Then the guys at the shop try talking what they call NY-Italian. Everyone has a hard time saying my first name let alone my last. The don't understand why I say Olive Garden is fake Italian food so I had to make some homemade pasta and meat balls, some chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, etc....

Salva, I understand all that, I grew up in New England, and my father moved to Mrytle Beach South Carolina....I went down a few times, and those southerners would never lay off--they reminded me hourly that I was and always would remain a yankee--and I responded, THANK GOD IN HEAVEN!
They were backwards, a young guy on the beach came to flirt with me, and they sure have a funny way of doing so:

First thing he said: Ah, Your a northern girl, and I responded: Yes, how did you know that? Because, he said, a southern girl would cover up more than you. He had started to flirt by insulting me.
I thanked him for his generousity.
Next I knew he was handing me a history lesson about the Civil War!!! I am not kidding---I felt as thought I had jumped into a time machine and gone back years into the past! I told him, I dont even remember the history of the Civil war, but apparently you guys are still sour about it...and he finally gave up on me,,, or I on him...
You know some of them spoke so poorly in their native language that I didnt understand them at all
It could be good for some people..I suppose...I hope you are not planning on staying for long--its hard when you are not from there....the mentalities are just so noticable different

Ciao Salvatore!

Benvenuto.

I think you have to try to contact your family in Italy again just to know if they are doing well or what happened! Maybe easter time is a good time to do that.

Good luck
