stellina 07-24-2007, 05:06 AM I couldn't live without music.. could You?
What do you think about italian music?
I think that many CANTAUTORI (story tellers) are first of all poets and then singers... as for example the great "Fabrizio De Andrè" who died some years ago but who's still a legend in the italian music.
His songs were poems, tears, hidden smiles, cruel and sweet histories...simply true life!
jacqueline 07-24-2007, 05:31 AM Little Star, I believe in my heart that yes! You are correct about these artists.......I believe that the ones that can carry on even when they pass on, have touched the hearts of others and when this happens its mighty hard to shake them off! The only way they achieve this.... is to have dug down into their souls and pulled out what is clear and true and real.:p passion with honesty and giving people...true artists do not perform for money and attention, but for sheer joy...and satisfaction. Do you think that the Rolling Stones need to perform at seventy years old in search for money or attention?
paolo 07-25-2007, 02:10 PM I am probably too old to understand the junk-shitty-songs above.
Well since this forum will not include Pink Floyd's repertoire I will start by adding a few songs by one of my Italian preferred cantautori at the following post:

jacqueline 07-25-2007, 02:58 PM I do like your random pictures!
and I do think that the guys and gals that love to dance these days, would not agree that it's sh**** like you say, I put it on for them. I prefer this Italian song; because the one you placed is sort ..out of my league;)

To be honest I was probably inappropiate in my comment. I made it more because it sounded funny rather than anything else.
Anyway guccini is a very important cantautore and his ongs really meant something. I will add more youtube staff in the future to finish the category with De Andre' de Gregori Dalla etc etc.

bubbles 07-25-2007, 07:37 PM Jacqueline, thanks for the post, I keep hearing the song now whenever I am on the forum. Can I download it somehow into my comp?
Paolo, Thanks for your posts too, but unfortunately I am not very good with my Italian yet, and the concert recordings are not very clear. Is there any way I can find the songs on the internet as they were originally studio-recorded? Thanks in advance!
Suggestions for any other singer that I can download from the internet and record on my mp3 player would also be welcome.
And yeah, I love the random pictures, as well as the fact that the forum excerpts can now be seen on the home page!
stellina 07-26-2007, 02:10 AM Paolo, great choice!
Guccini is one of the best cantautore in Italian music history!
I leave here a beautiful song of Guccini... written in 1968: it's still a cult-song in Italy: also young people know and song this masterpiece
- DIO E’ MORTO (Francesco Guccini - Nomadi)
Ho visto
Nelle auto prese a rate Dio è morto
E poi risorge
In ciò che noi crediamo Dio è risorto
In ciò che noi vogliamo Dio è risorto
Nel mondo che faremo
Dio è risorto.
- GOD IS DEAD (Francesco Guccini - Nomadi)
I have seen
The people of my age goes away
Along the roads that don’t lead never to nothing
To search the dream that drives to the maddness
In the search of something that don’t find in the world that they already have
Along the nights that from the wine are weted
Into the rooms by changed tablets
Along the clouds of smoke, in the world makes of towns,
Being against or to swallow our tired civilization
It is a dead God
On the edges of the streets God is dead
In the cars bought by instalments God is dead
In the myths of Summer God is dead.
They have said me that this my generation by now don’t believe
In what they have veiled by the faith
In the eternal myths of the country or of the hero
Because it has arrived the time to deny all what is falsity
The faiths makes of habits and fear
A politic that is only make career
The self-serving respectability, la dignity makes of void
The hypocrisy of who is always with the reason and never with the wrong
It is a dead God
In the dead camps God is dead
With the myths of the race God is dead
With the hate of party god is dead.
but I think
That this my generation is prepared
To a new world and to a just born hope
To the future that already have in its hand, a rebellion without arms
Because all us know that if God dies is for 3 days
And after he rises again
In what we believe God is risen
In what we want God is risen
In the world that we make
God is risen
maybe the translation is not perfect..anyway you will be able to understand the meaning of this beautiful incredible song

This song "Domo vida mea" is performed by Eros Ramazzotti and "Tazenda" (a sardinian musical group"). The song (really sweet) is in italian and sardinian dialect.
The video shows the amazing landscapaes of Sardinia Island! Enjoy it!
