Caio Paolo,

Unfortunately that is the extent of my speaking and writing Italian. I am coming alone and haven't decided on where. I would love to be in Umbria or Tuscany...doesn't everyone? My parents do live in Molise near Termoli. They would love if I stayed with them or at my dad's farmhouse. I'm not sure that I want to be that well known before I even arrive. Any suggestions?

Well if your parents are there I would definately give a try to that area.
I have no idea about your work needs and so on. I personally like Rome, Umbia, Tuscany where there is also a stronger international presence. However also Abruzzo and Molise are nice..of course if you are looking for an active nightlife somewhere near a larger city is better.

Well Paolo, the first thing I'd like to do is take a language immersion course in the tuscany region. That would allow me to check out all of the smaller villages in Tuscany and Umbria. I do want to be in an area where there is a large city nearby so my parents farmhouse is most likely not that place. I am going to Italy this Sunday for 10 days to spend Easter with my parents. I will be taking my 16 year old niece for her first real travel experience, and a friend of mine from college will be joining us for her first trip to Italy. I have booked a farmhouse outside of San Gimignano. (don't even think I spelled that right) I am hoping to get a better feel for that area of Tuscany that way. I will report my feelings upon my return. I should also have a photo up by then.

Hey there,

I've been kind of offered a position in Rome, which of course, is subjected to their hiring policy for foreigners.

I've been asked to state my expectations, in terms of pay package. As I've not been to Italy, I do not really know what to expect and how much to quote.

Any good web sites I can visit to get a sense of living expenses, salary scale (I am in the media industry, handling mainly marketing and public relations works)? Or any first-hand advice on how to quote my expectations to my potential employer?

By the way, I'm from Singapore. I speak mainly English and my second language's Mandarin, and am learning French (Yes, I know. I am learning the wrong language! haha! Should be learning Italian instead!)
