View Full Version : Ciao a tutti! Hello everyone!
Aurora 03-25-2007, 02:53 AM Hello Everyone! My name's Aurora and I live in Italy. I'm fun, friendly, confident( but I'm soo not conceited),educated to some standard but I can always learn more. I love all people, well most of the time. I'm 100% adventurous( or foolish) and sometimes do things without fully thinking them completely through( like moving to Italy alone for the rest of my life and buying a house).:-) I'm also a big procrastinator and have been known to live by the procrastinator’s law from time to time. Yet, I have tons of energy to do the things I enjoy doing and do so enthusiastically I might add. I like friendly people and think mean people really suck.:( I'm intelligent and love to learn different languages. I speak 5 languages, but 90% of the time I mix them all to create one language which is my own; However, no one seems to understand it . I also love to learn about other cultures, and ways of life. I think everyone is special and beautiful in some way. I love to travel, and experience other cultures, and learn different religions. I love learning and believe that learning is a never ending process. I believe in peace, justice, love, and hope for all people no matter their race, nationality, religion, sexual preference, and creed. My favourite colour is Red, the color of passion. However, I wear a lot of black because it's fashionable and slimming, but I love all colours because I'm a colorful person and life without colour, well...would suck. The craziest thing I would love to do if I had the courage to do it, is to sunbath naked on the beach. However, being I don't want to shock the public, I refrain myself.;) Well, that and I'm just way too modest. I'll just wait till I'm 60 years old to put on a "real nice show" and then go to do my thing on the beach. Of course I'll fit right, and you know what I'm talking about if you have ever been to some public beaches in Italy in summer . I like to sing in the shower and in public to the top of my lungs in different languages. I dance, sing, and slide in the supermarket isles and fancy shops just to let people think I'm crazy or just one of those damn foreign tourist. My favourite season is summer because love to play in the sun and complain endlessly about the heat. I love cars, driving around for the hell of it in bad traffic in Italy with radio blasting, and horns blowing at me( that's usually from the Italians gesturing behind me  ) watching movies, hanging out with friends and meeting people from all over the world. I love to laugh and believe laughter is the best medicine.. I should know because I have a degree in it. I adore dancing and take every opportunity to learn all dance styles from salsa to belly dancing. I'm loyal, caring, generous, and protective of my friends and family. Ok! I'll stop for now before your eyes bleed,( Yep! they are a little blood tinged if I might ad) but if you want to know me or be my friend or at least pretend to be in order to know more about Italy:cool: , contact me.,-) P.S A tutti i miei italiani, vi faccio la traduzione dall' inglese all'italiano al più presto. ..:D ... Parlo l'italiano perfettamente.. ciao ciao
paolo 03-25-2007, 04:41 AM Che bella introduzione !
Ciao per adesso
Nice introduction Aurora. Where are you in Italy ?
Ciao
Paolo
I live in Calabria, yeah! I bet it's difficult to shake that image from your head huh? I came to Calabria on a vacation, and I did something really crazy like actually buy a house to live here. I came here alone and didn't speak one work of Italian, which was actually ok because the locals only speak in dialect anyway. I learned Calabrian dialect before I actually learned Italian. My Italian is sometimes incorrect because of the problem with " spoken dialect only"... it's a unwritten rule we have in Calabria. However, I speak, read, and write Italian and I learned it all by myself as well. I often can be found wondering in Florence, Rome, Milan, and other cities when I need to escape the Calabrian mentality. You know the story... single female leaves family to live alone thousands of miles away alone in another country. And yes, I am the talk of the village and probably have been mentioned a time or two in the local newspapers but that was before I knew dialect. Have a good weekend! buona domenica!!
Aurora 03-25-2007, 07:49 PM Grazie Angelica, :-)
However, I think Paolo needs some eyes drops.,-)
giovanna 03-29-2007, 06:13 AM Oh Aurora...You're my hero. I hope I can say the same thing sometime in the near future.
Giovanna
mmccain 04-12-2007, 01:34 AM Welcome to this nut house!!
saporedisale 04-12-2007, 05:28 PM Aurora!
Aurora 05-05-2007, 12:58 PM Ok, I'm back...and please excuse my delay. I'm back after healing from the worst case of the flu that I have ever had in my whole entire life.
Giovanna, I'm sure you will be able to say the same in the future and then you can be my hero.:)
Thanks mmccain, I adore the nut house and most Calabrians will probably tell you that I'm just the right person for the nut house.
giovanna 05-07-2007, 07:55 AM I wondered what ever happened to you. It seems as though it's been forever since your last post. I am glad to hear you are feeling better.
Giovanna

Joeybell 05-07-2007, 07:12 PM Hello Aurora
How are you finding living there?... work, cost of living? I would love to hear from you... It's something that I have been thinking about doing... moving to Italy
mmccain 11-27-2007, 01:49 AM There is a new fighter plane in the US Air Force called Aurora. Its so secret that we don't know even if it flies!!:D
Welcome back on our site!
Michael
Aurora 11-28-2007, 10:43 AM Wow a fighter plane with my own name!!! Oh I wish I could fly that plane just once.:D Please, excuse me to anyone who has left me messages or posts that I haven't reponded to for some time. I've been sooooooooo busy teaching and studying that I don't have much time to do much of anything and I've been planning a small trip to Florence for the Christmas holiday. Merry Christmas to everyone! Buon Natale!:)
ReloRoss 12-07-2007, 06:09 PM Is it hard to live there? With the Euro I would think it would be expensive.

Live in florence is crazy, i lived there for 3 years (i was a rugby professional player and all was paid by my team) often I come back to visit my friend and because I love this city.
If you decide to live in the city for rent an apartment about 50 mt2 you have to spent at minimum 1500 euro par month.
eat is very expensive, in medium restaurant 50 euro is normally
The best is go out to live, 10 km is enough to spent very less.
But Florence Rome Venice are splendid City and I think is normal that if you want to live in this city you have to pay more.
ciao
Aurora 12-10-2007, 06:38 PM Yeah! Life in Florence is very expensive, but I often go to see my friends and escape the wild life that comes from living in" The gossip village" in southern Calabria. hahahaha :D Yeah! People really go insane here according to the elderly ladies that insist every morning on telling all the details of everyone's lives. Why just the other day someone noticed that Signora Rossi hasn't been to mass for two weeks now, but rumor has it that she has been spotted around shopping in another local village nearby thus confirming the fact that she has been playing truant from church. Signore Italiano who has been a widower for 4 years now has a much younger woman living with him...The shame of his private life is so devastating for us all in the village, that we may find it difficult to recover from the trauma of it all. He's 52 years old and his " new lei" is 43. They have been seen dancing together" in public".;)
hahahaha So, I have to go to places like Florence, Rome, Milan, ecc where life is more calm and people don't do those crazy things to relax.
Fluvio, I used to play on a female Rugby team and many other sports back home. However, here when I talk about enjoying sports and actually playing sports esp..Rugby... I get the "lo sguardo!" I usually hear sentences like "Females don't play sports and "RUGBY????" No, No, tesoro,lo sport lascia per i maschi. hahaha
Whoaaa I really like that plane. I can almost see myself flying " The Aurora fighter plane" to avoid rush traffic and oh what I wouldn't do to get out of crazy traffic jams. :D
