The only songs that I know are appropiate to a 2 year old would be the Zecchino D' Oro. You should look for Cds like 'I grandi successi dello zecchino d' oro'. You can find maybe some Cds on www.ebay.it
( Italian ebay ) - You can also try to find some songs on the web so yo see if you will like them - Use Google to search Zecchino d' oro

Thanks Paola,
I have purchased several Zecchino D'Oro CDs. One of the titles we have is I grandi successi dello zecchino d'oro Vol.2 I easily found them on Amazon.com. Susy Bellucci sent me three of her CD's from Florance. Il Pulcino Duduggi, Gallo Cristallo and Dormi Do. Susy's Cds are fun and lively while her voice and the words to the songs are crisp and clear; good for someone learning the language. Muzzy just arrived today. We viewed the first there episodes. It was pricy so I hope it helps us to use converational phrases. So far all we know are an array of vocabulary words. I made some powerpoint slides with sounds and pictures downloaded from the internet that has helped with learning colors and animals. It is very difficult to find resources in Italian. Everything bilingual seems to be the Spanish language.

I think the Zecchino d'oro best first disk is better
If You would like to learn yourself Italian I might suggest however something different
- Battisti Greatest hits
- Fabrizio de Andre
- De Gregori
You should be able to find all the lyrics on the internet and print them

I was once teaching my little cousin at that age, and I remember repeating simple things like Vai a letto--go to bed, or water...ecc. And you know they are like sponges. I didnt see her for a while (several months), and she surprised me by saying, jacqueline Via al letto! She remembered several simple phrases PERFECTLY, and I just reminded her a few times on the phone, incredible...

I am not fluent in Italian. My mom does not speak it. My fatehr did but he past away when I was 5, my grandfather (his dad) moved back to Italy when I was 12. My fathers sis, bro and mother all past away before my grandfather moved. Well I use to go to Italy when I was 13-18, it has been 8 years since I have been there. So I do not get to speak the language much. I really would like to find some inexpensive books or cd's to help refresh me.
I now have a 9 month old son named Gabriel and want him to be able to have conversations in Italian. I do talk to him what I know, when I say Ciao Gabriel he waves his hand. I'd like to get cd's and dvd's him and I can watch and listen to together.

Ciao Sal,

I am learning Italian for the past three months now, and one of the things I found really useful is the website www.learitalianpod.com. They have short podcasts which you can download into your computer or MP3 player, and listen to them when you want. They have the beginner, Intermediate, and Culture Shot categories.

I download their podcasts and play them on my tiny MP3, when I am in a bus or taxi or train, and even while working out at the gym or shopping. They teach you in Italian and English, and the podcasts are usually quite interesting. Very useful, and completely free!!

Hope this helps.

I am having an interesting experience about Italian language. My first 2 kidz were born in Italy in 1999 and 2001. Then we moved to Singapore and they refuse to speak Italian. However they understand it completely and reply to my questions in Singlish. The little one, who was born in 2005, usually spends the mornings with me and seems to have picked up a number of words and sentences his siblings are uncapable to utter... How to make them all effectively trilingual?

I am an expat in Singapore too, and am now learning Italian. It is difficult for kids with singaporeans all around to remember/want to speak in Italian. One of the things that could help could be to interact more with other Italians in Singapore, especially those with children that speak Italian.

This could be an interesting site for your children, try it out:

On this site, there are favolas that could be interesting to children 6-7 years old. The idea is to download them on the computer and play them for the children on computer or any other MP3 player. That could interest them:)
