Moving forward with my dream: I own a large property in Umbria that is being renovated. It is located just a few km south from Panicale and west of Tavernelle, on the road from Perugia to Citta della Pieve. It is a large ancient glass works factory dating from 1292 built into the 11th century walls of the village. When renovated we will have a five bedroom/5 bath (one bedroom in top of tower) villa with large kitchen, library, living and dining room. And four two bed/two bath apartments with living room, kitchen, dining. Swimming pool and many terraces overlooking the Nestore valley with pastoral views. It should be finished in late spring of 2008. We will want to rent out weekly to tourists. I am just starting to make enquiries into property management to take care of meeting clients, cleaning, pool management, etc. It will be a wonderful place for weddings (can sleep 26 beds and 5 sofa beds); great for workshops also. The village has a lovely rustic park with amphitheatre for outdoor weddings. The villa will have a huge gourmet kitchen suitable for cooking classes. There are numerous possibilities for marketing. We will have our own website and will handle bookings and payment.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has had experience in any of the areas I described. Do you lead wine tours, teach Italian cooking, lead cultural tours, want to manage the property, arrange weddings, provide music or lead a workshop? Have any bright ideas for our project? :)
