Hi, I'm 21 live in the USA, but I was born in Guatemala. I'm going to visit Europe for the winter and spend the holydays there. I don't know what to wear and I'm really intimidated by France and Italy. Specially Italy...I am come on, is all about fashion there. Please give me some tips on what to pack and what's going to be in for the winter. What do women wear in Italy and France around that time of the year?

Thank so very much!!!

Hello Analy,

When I've been to Italy and France in the winter I've been very impressed by the coats that the Europeans wear and that are available in the shops. They're mostly made of fine wool and in beautiful styles of all colours. Some do wear leather which also looks good, of course, but I favour the wool - probably because I can't wear it here! It's just too hot! I especially liked the bright red and the pink ones. I bought a grey coat in London, only to see these much more attractive coats on the Europeans. Why not take an old coat with you and buy a lovely new one in Italy?

There are also lovely sweaters available at reasonable prices. I also love the fine woollen and cashmere scarves which are surprisingly cheap and very attractive. Silk scarves for the spring and summer are also available.

As usual, the spring clothes start to sell early which is a bit of a nuisance if you are looking for something for the cold weather. On the other hand, there are sales in January so you are sure to find whatever you're looking for!

The Italians wore their coats with jeans or pants, but it was the coats that stood out!

I hope that this helps!

Best Regards,

Lisa
