Ciao a tutti,
I was thinking today about my trip to Italy last summer and remembering all the great food. I thought I'd find out who else has had great food in Italy, and start planning my next trip around the best places to eat!
The food I remember as being the best was at the Relais Borgo Scopeto hotel outside Siena. Exquisite, perfect, and the service was excellent and the selection superb. Might possibly be worth the bus trip up to Siena for the day just to have dinner there.
Also, Paolo, what was the name of that restaurant... the Jewish/Italian one? That was pretty good as well.

Teresa I had found a poll in the local paper, and I have the 22 best restaurants in Italy on my blog, on the left side. @ www.romacaffe.blogspot.com:)

Ciao Jacqueline!
Now you've done it... I checked out your list on your site (cool site, by the way!) and I'm going to gain ten pounds on my next trip and while I know it was my idea to start with, to plan my trip around great food, I think I'll blame at least half the pounds on you. :D
Thanks!

My favourite restaurants in florence are:
For food, atmosphere and enjoying myself: Trattoria Garga
Great enotecas: Il Santo Bevitore and Fuori Porta
For Seafood: Fuor d'acqua
These are all in the centre of Florence...I'm not so familiar with the restaurants outside the centre, however they've got terrific food and greeat service. I've tried probably every restaurant in the centre of florence and these are definitely the best. Il santo bevitore and garga have quite a few tourists, as they are very well known but alot of locals go there too. Fuori Porta, being a little further out of the centre, has fewer tourists.
Enotece Pichiorri is considered one of the best in Italy but I can't justify spending over 40, 50 euro just for the entree, and the rest for the main and desserts, plus a good bottle of wine, and still feel hungry after. When going out for dinner I have to be satisfied after or I consider it money thrown away.

More to add to my list!
I'm not familiar at all with Florence. In fact, I need to make a point to spend a few days there instead of breezing through on my way to somewhere else. I'm thinking some great food and even better wine, a trip through a few museums, and a stay in a nice hotel will show me how to appreciate the town more.
Thanks!
