Salve!

My great grandparents (Davide Leo & Lucia DeFilippo or DiFilippo) were born and married in Siena, IT.

They came to New York, US around 1904 and 1910, possibly with a family friend of last name DiBenedetto.

If anyone here has info on, or in fact IS a relative, "ciao!", and feel free to contact me at mleo963@yahoo.com

Happy, I highly suggest you go to Siena at some point.
I'm sure you could find somebody you're related to there.

Thanks to you both.

I am actually about 1 document away for applying for dual citizenship and plan to go to Italy in the near future after that.

I went to Sicily several years ago and enjoyed it a lot, so I look forward to touring more of the "main land".

I will say, with all the "stuff" that is going on now (immigrants, trash, crime), i'm getting a little nervous about visiting.

But that's for another post.

I'll check out the links but I have gathered a ton of info already on family names, histories, etc. I was just reaching out here in the hopes that a long lost cousin also visit's this forum.

ciao

Please come and visit. The media paint a much worse picture than it really is, and some of the comments made in other threads are more of a devil's advocate view. The risk of crime exists, but it is really no worse than it is in any other city around the world.

Seems like Italy is pretty safe. Safer than the U.S.

The U.S. is ranked 24th in the world for most crime. Italy is way down to #48. Spain #49
