First of all sorry for my English but I am not a native English speaker.
My name is Rita, I come from Rome, Italy, and I have been living in San Diego for about two years. I left my country because of love. After I met my husband we spent one year traveling between the US and Italy, then I decided to move to California and start my new life.
At the beginning was very difficult. I had no friends, I didn't speak English and i didn't Know the city and the places around me.
Because I couldn't work, I had time to spend in the kitchen like I never had before and I started to cook. It was not easy, I had problems with the temperature of the oven and the measuraments of the ingredients, and also finding the right ingredients sometime was a problem. For example took me some days to find a good mozzarella. By the way, I agree Mandara is the best mozzarella di bufala that you can find here but it is costly. In the other hand the Garofalo box from Costco (4 pieces) has good taste and good price.
After weeks of experiments, now I feel more confortable about my cooking and often I organise dinners in my house and I try to recreate the atmosphere of my country and share Italian traditions and customs with my new friends.
Is there something better than this for making new friends and feeling at home?
Think about it.....
