Admin wake up please!!

Get rid of these two @ssholes from the forum - "Rambo" and "Patriota"- I am sure they are the same person anyway - I have never read more racist twoddle anywhere than these two have written on this forum.

Get rid of them - they do nothing to enhance this forum - they do not open up debate or discussion and will only ever enrage and anger other members here with their thinky veiled hatred!

Aliena I agree. They add nothing constructive to this forum and risk intimidating some members, existing or new. This is a great shame because I don't think this is not what Paolo created Life in Italy for.

I do find it a strange coincidence that in all the profiles of Villa, Rambo and Patriota there is little or no information provided other than they all have some common traits...their astrological sign of acquarius and the fact that their rantings and views are very similar.

I have to disagree with you Aliena...banning these people won't do much good either, they can always register under different names and emails...
i think we ought to be open minded to every idea in the world however racist they view point is..because that is whats happening in real life, some people just have extreme ideology which are different from us and sometimes that makes us imtimidated or scared or afraid but that should not be the reason to shut their mouth or our mouth..we should always engaged them in debates presenting our own view of the world...

but the decision is on the hand of the admin-let him decide whats best for this forum!!:)

Although I agree with you "in principle" that they can always register under different names and emails and that we should be open minded to every idea, however racist because that is whats happening in real life, these two are offensive in the extreme and should not be allowed any more space than they have already occupied here.

Rambo is hell bent on insulting every southern italian and so, I ask if you have read and clearly understand his posts.. especially the ones written in italian or dialect?

I will not tolerate his obnoxious comments any further and will retaliate harshly if provoked again.

Ronald...I beg to differ.

The fact that the world is racist is not the point. Neither is having different viewpoints. This has nothing to do with being open minded. The point is that debate should be well balanced, meaningfull and intellectually stimulating. It should provoke thoughtful commentary and not resort to one sided bigotry or personal insults. If someone disagrees with a point, then an alternative viepoint should be offered. I do not see this from either Rambo and Patriota.

Italy's problems stem from many weaknesses. There is clear and copious evidence of this. By using ethnicity or social status as a means by which to apportion the blame is nothing other than an egocentric vision of reality.

In the end, people like Rambo can choose not to participate and go elsewhere, but the reputation of this forum is at risk and it could be perceived (and you should know how damaging perceptions can be) as the place where people in this community (not forgetting that people from all over the world view these pages) are attacked because of their cultural origins. Other notable forums have rules and it is time that we introduced a few here.

Hi everybody
I am travelling this days ( In Italy ) so I do not have that much time to do police work :-)
I did remove a post by rambo ( Or patriot I dod not remmebr ) that made no sense - I will try to read the rest and come up with a fair virdict !
I do not want to censure people just because the express different opinion - So let me read and I will take the necessary measures

I think banning is a little extreme, even if I agree that the racial insults go too far. Rambo is entitled to his opinions, which seems like he feels very passionate about, but he should tone it down a bit and watch his language.
Perhaps he should be put on some kind of probation with the warning that he can express his views regarding southerners and foreigners without resorting to name-calling.
Probably the best course of action is to just ignore him when we find a post of his to be particularly offensive.

Banning should only be the last resort and after repeated warnings.

Being passionate about a cause has nothing to do with lacking judgement or not having the good sense to think of the wider audience that visits this forum.

Ignoring offensive posts is not the answer. Any offensive posts will be deleted.

Ronald, I was recently speaking to an American professional (who has an Italian wife and has been living in Italy for the past 4 years) who has decided to move back to the USA. When I aksed him why he told me that although there is a lot to enjoy here, he has found life very difficult because of: having to rely on the systems in Italy, the low wages and the high cost of living.

This has nothing to do with race or crime, or the disparity between north and south. It is sad when this sort of thing happens because Italy does have a lot to offer. To some extent one can understand the underlying concerns that people like Rambo are expressing. However, separatism is not the answer. Just consider what happened to the Republic of Venice, which became increasingly decadent during the 18th century and became isolated politically and culturally from the rest of Europe.

I am happy to see calm and reasoned discussion. Nothing is ever solved by bombastic ranting. Bravo CJ, Ronald82, Augustus and Paolo.

WEBSTER'S NEW WORLD DICTIONARY;

OFFENSIVE

1. Attacking
2. Unpleasant as to the senses
3. Disgusting, revolting
4. Causing resentment or anger
5. Insulting
6. Attitude operation of position that is attacking

If anyone's posts result in the former, they shouldn't be in the community. These are negatives, and they grow and mutate; no good! Expressions are one thing, negatives are disease and we don't want to spread them around.

Social consequences
The sharp rise in home prices in recent years has made it increasingly difficult for people with low earnings to rent – let alone buy – a flat in Rome. Those who cannot afford to do so are being pushed outside the city. According to recent statistics, some 250 families every month sign up to ask for subsidized housing. Under the increasing pressure, the City council has announced that some 20,000 new council homes will be built by 2011 as part of the new plans for urban development.
