Hello everybody!

I'm a boy from Hong Kong who is currently 19 years old.
Recently my native-Englishspeaking-teacher told me that she studied linguistics when she was in university, I asked her what language she knew apart from English, she ansewred that she knew ITALIANO!

Then I asked her if she would teach me and she gave me an answer saying yes!

Now I can speak some basic Italian (although it's not very fluent), and I am planning to visit Italy in June/July 2007. Could anybody give me some advice of travelling in Italy? Which are the must-vistited destinations?

Furthermore, I would like to make some friends who live in Europe, would anybody like to be my friend^^?
look forward to seeing your reply!

Having spent 6 weeks in Sicily and noting that the advice given by this website was very relevant.....I would recommennd it to you for getting answers to any question about Italy-at-large as well.

Welcome to the board stulisio,

I'm from the USA and when I was 19 I traveled through europe riding trains and staying at hostels. I don't know what kind of comfort you want to travel in, but I had an incredible experience traveling in this manner.

Especially in Italy I met numerous friends from all over the world - some of them have even come to visit me here in the US years later. Although I didn't meet many Italian friends this way, it left plenty of money in my pocket to go to places where local people hang out - that's where I met alot of cool Italian people.

I would suggest start planning right away since you will be there at peak season which means prices will be higher, hostels and pensions will be fuller and the further south you go, the hotter it will get.

Get a basic itinerary set up and buy a guidebook to Italy so you can decide what you want to see.

Good luck, you are going to have a great time!
Justin

Welcome to the forum. Don't hold your breath waiting for any answers, though - it's not the brightest of places on the planet!!

caro Hong K,

IF it would help, I have a book coming out around springtime, that is if you are coming to Rome--You can choose by zones on what to: see, do, and eat and there are many interesting choices..it will be available at trafford.com and is called "Rome Dreams in a Drawer,"
