Hello. I am so glad I found this site.

My name is Michael Romano. 38 years old , Wife Michelle Romano, three kids , 3 Dogs ( Cane Corso's Imported from Italia of course LOL ) Recently I have been attempting to create a family tree. My Father Frank Romano was born here in the United States, however his parents were born in Sicilia.
My Grandmother : lena / Carmela / Carmelena : she used them all...LOL ( maiden name Nigrelli ) was born is 1893 in Mussomeli.
My Grandfather : Lorenzo Romano was born in ( I believe ) Caltanissetta. Date 1889.

Both are buried in Calvary Cemetery in Clifton NJ. It is very important to me to be able to find out about my heritage. I would love to be able to show my grandchildren ( when they come into this earth ) where we come from.

you can search your last name on the ellis island records. Since your family is second/third generation here in the US, you might have some luck. One thing to remember is alot of Italians had their first and last names changed when they entered the states, so play around with the spelling.

I have friends in Sicilia and I am from Calabria. I am interested in developing a family tree as well, so best of luck to you!!!
