Excellent way to improve your Italian.
This book is available as paperback only, and in the combination paperback-audio CD. The text on the CD is identical to that of the book, read by native Italians and very easy to understand.
This teenage novel is written for advanced beginners, Level 2 (out of 4 levels) and broken up into individual chapters. Difficult words are explained in simple Italian (no English translations). At the end of each chapter, a series of questions about the text, multiple-choice questions, vocabulary training and other activities help the students deepen their knowledge of Italian.
To complement the novel, two sections are added that talk about, and show pictures of, the famous Italian writer Umberto Eco and the cathedral of Milan.
The novel is about a young girl whose family runs a hotel. When one day a guest from Milan who had eaten at the family restaurant was found dead in a park --poisoned-- the police searches the hotel and orders it closed. The young girl believes she can solve the mystery on her own, travels secretly to Milan and finds proof of her suspicions. But then suddenly things go wrong.
