For the Italian class I made two outline maps of Italy. One has the names
of the regions and capitals and the other is blank with just the outline of
the regions. We learn the regions with the first map and then the students
have to be able to point out where each region is on the blank map. We have
a lot of fun doing this.
Besides being fun and interesting there are many reasons to do this. For one,
no matter what region you visit in Italy you'll always meet people from other
regions while in a certain region. Knowing something about their region really
makes it better when you talk to them.
