Hi my name is Mary and my family and I hope to move to Northern Italy in 2 years time (we're planning ahead to make it as smoothe as possible).

We have a son who is currently 9 years of age and will therefore be 11 when we move. We are therefore hoping to find a good school to send him to - preferably either an international or bilingual school to make it as easy as possible for him. Does anyone know of any good schools in Bologna, Modena, Milan or maybe even Florence - although due to the cost of living in the latter the first three would be more preferable!!!

If anyone has any advice in relation to finding schools for children in Italy it would be much appreciated!!

Mary

Start with this link Mary:

http://italy.english-schools.org/

There are a fair amount of American, English, and "International" schools in the areas you mentioned. Might want to also Google along those lines as well. Keep in mind that these will be private schools, and tuitions will vary accordingly.

The best educational gift you can give your kids also is a head-start in Italian! However, Italian schools are significantly different in their educational approachesso going the "international" schooling route is likely to be MUCH easier. Even so, your whole family should be working on building as much language skill as you can (if you haven't already).

Good luck!

Thanks for the link! We are all learning Italian hence the 2 year head start! It's always useful to hear from people who have actual experience of living in a couuntry rather than just relying on holidays and online research!

Did you or are you currently living in Italy?:)

Thanks!

From our research so far it looks as though we may have to consider Rome although it is further South than we would want - however its hardly a sacrifice is it?!!!!......... and we all love Rome anyway!
