I am new to your community. and looking forward to visit your country myself in the next 2 years.

I have a request, but wondered if it is appropriate to post here or not.

I'm from Western Canada, and a friend’s daughter is dealing with a difficult situation. Her best friend, Kelsey, has Astrocytoma and underwent surgery on March 10/08 to remove approximately half of the cancerous tumor on her brainstem

Doctors have done all they can do to prolong her life however it is unknown by how much.

Kelsey’s grade 11 class are leaving on a trip to Italy next week (March 18/08) without her.
We were thinking why not try to bring it to her and why not make it the entire world!!

We’re asking that wherever you live in the world; please send Kelsey a postcard so she can see it.
You don’t have to write anything; just sending it along will show her people all over the world care.

It would be great for Kelsey to receive many postcards from all over so please feel free to forward this on to anyone you know living around the world, Italy would be a bonus!

We are calling this " 'Show her the World' cares ".

I am told she was quite depressed that she couldn't go to Italy, after planning it for many months. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Helene I think would be a nice idea pick up this thread and we can help you sending electronic postcard from here too...

What do you think? many users here upload pictures from everywhere in italy... we can ask the web site to make a page where everyone can post an electronic postcard...

Thank you so much for your response.
Your idea is excellent. We are mostly interested in postcards, as Kelsey has some problems with her peripheral vision, and looking at a screen gives her headaches.
Right here in Regina the postcard idea is picking up. It's being mentionned on a few websites, ( http://laineygossip.com/March_14_2008__Smutty_ShoutOuts.aspx )and we are hoping that Kelsey will begin receiving cards soon. It's even going to be mentionned on a radio station here, and hoping for national exposer.

She is out of the hospital right now, and doing good according to her mom. No decision has been made yet about how to deal with the other half of the tumor that remains, but will be meeting with the cancer clinic very shortly.
I have edited my 1st post to include the address where the cards can be sent.

I haven't had an update on Kelsey's health in a little while, but I do know that she has received over 200 cards as of last week.

Wow, 200 cards is great as of 4-21. I know I'm going up into Wisconsin probably tomorrow. If I can find anything, I will certainly pick one up and send it.
