This past summer while spending over a month in
Perugia, Umbria I traveled a lot by train. In the
train station in Perugia they have an office where you can
sit down comodamente in chairs at a desk and ask a clerk questions
about different connections, time tables ect. etc to
cities and places all over Italy where you might want to go.
I did this several times partly just to practice my Italian.
Well anyway this one time I wanted to go to Piacenza by way of
Florence from Perugia so he gave me a printed out sheet of what train
and what time I would leave. Then he said but there might
be a sciopero dominica.
GLI SCIOPERI IN ITALIA
In Italia quasi tutti i giorni c'e uno sciopero. Ho
l'impressione che gli italiani non abbiano piu voglia
lavorare.(ma non e vero) Con gli scioperi la gente spera di ottenere
degli aumenti di stipendio. E necessario che il governo
Italiano e i sindacati ascoltino i lavoratori.
(E certo questo o no?)
STRIKES IN ITALY
Almost every day in Italy there is a strike. Some people(not me)
have the impression that the Italians don't want to work anymore.
With the strikes, the people hope to get raises in their salaries.
It is necessary that the government and the unions listen to the workers.
People are saying that they work a lot and don't make enough money. (E vero!)
It is possible that they exaggerate, but one thing is for sure, they cannot
keep on increasing the cost of merchandise without increasing the salaries.
It seems that strikes might help people to obtain what they want, but, in
reality, one doesn't obtain anything or enough to justify these strikes and
the loss of working hours. (Is this true or no?)
For example you don't see Silvio Berlusconi out striking. But then again
he's worth over 16 billion dollars. Or is it euros?
