Hi,

I have just registered today, I am looking at moving to Italy fairly soon.

My name is Simon, I am 33 and a freelance technical director in the film industry. All it means is that I get shouted at by producers for everything costing too much and taking too long :)

Since leaving the UK about 10 years ago I have lived in a few countries/cities including Prague, Amsterdam, Munich and am currently back in Amsterdam for a short spell.

Basically I am wanting warmer climates and nice driving roads with the next place I move to - which has to be pretty soon as I have to be out of my apartment in a month or so.

I've always liked Italy every time I have visited, so hopefully it will soon become my next new home :)

Any comments/advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks and Ciao

Simon

Ciao Simon,

I like the way you described your job title. You have a sense of humor which I'm sure helps you adapt to all the places you've lived. Flexibility, patience and a good sense of humor will take you a long way.

Ciao Simon! Welcome to the forum, it's helped me out so much since I started planning my move to Italy. Have you narrowed down which region you may move to?

Hi Simon

Welcome to the forum and hopefully too Italy soon. I am a real estate broker land developer in Calabria, Italy catering to non Italians who want to move too Italy. I recommend moving too Calabria, it is very affordable and the climate will fulfill your request. Most of my properties are located along the beautiful Lamezia shoreline. If you require help with purchasing a house or a small condo apartment let me know.

Enjoy the forum

Ciao Simon. Come stai? Spero che bene e che parli italiano.

Rented a small apartment in Perugia(central Italy) this past summer for $450 euros a month. Had the time of my life learning/relearning Italian, traveling around Italy and meeting lots and lots of gente gentile.

Penso che it's just common sence to rent first, see how you like different places in Italy e dopo forse comprare una casa.

Penso anche that Frank Tarsitano ha ragione with going to Calabria per vivere. Anche io vado li.

Grazie Villa, Simon if you ask most people who have already visited the tourists cities of Milan, Florence, Venice and Rome you will find that they are expensive cities to live in. If your interesting in really establishing a long term stay consider Calabria. At this time, there is a economic real estate boom which has created plenty of employment opportunities for Italians and non Italians. The lifestyle is a lot more relaxed and the cost of living is much less than the tourists traps of the North. Coming from Varesse, (Milan) and also a short time in Braciano (Roma) you will be happy and culturally satisfied resting in the Cosenza, Calabria… A brighter future is waiting for you in The South of Italy.

yes.. Simon we rent villas as well, short and long term.
