I am planning a trip to Italy in July, our baby will be 8 months old. Can I purchase baby food & formula over there or do I need to bring all her food with us?

Can you be more specific ( brand name and so on ) - How long you are going to be in Italy ? Martha 01-04-2008, 08:05 AM How wonderful that you'll be bringing your baby to Italy! You might want to pick up a copy of "Four Seasons in Rome" by Anthony Doerr. He moved to Rome with 6-month-old twins. I enjoyed reading about the Romans admiring the babies. I only wish I had had my son when I was living there. Martha Vicenza 01-04-2008, 04:14 PM depending on where you are going you will find a lot of choices, italians moms usually prepare homemade food for the baby a lot of veggie soup with meets or fish puree into it..But at the groceries store you will see a lot of organic jar food and the brand my kids used was Plasmon. My suggestion is bring the similac or formula that you are using since the differece in taste can be a problem but babys are very good in adjusting to new routine enviroment ecc just be patient. You are able to get Cheerios, pampers over there too. Buon Viaggio Elena Amber 01-13-2008, 10:38 AM In case u are wondering where to find the products, just go to the Farmacia(medicine shop). They have the everything from pampers, baby food products n bottles. Beware, the price of the Farmacia will be slighty more than the supermarket.Price u pay for the convienence. U can find also find in the supermarket...provided that they are big enough. sardoman 01-13-2008, 07:13 PM Hi kevicchio, As everybody says you can buy everything in Italy. Most of the jar food that you find in the supermarkets is homogenised and in my opinion tastes disgusting, the desserts and fruit jars also contain high quantities of sugar. If you want more natural food you will have to go to the farmacia. Milk formula is widely available but it is very expensive (possibly the most expensive in Europe). If your baby has any particular dietary needs then you might want to bring what you need with you, but you'll have to consider the airline security restrictions on liquids and food. Once you are here, don't worry about going anywhere with your baby, she will be more than welcome. And if you need to make up some formula just pop into any bar, they'll be happy to help you out. I hope you have a wonderful trip. |
