(ANSA) - Bolzano, November 6 - A toilet which flushes to
the musical accompaniment of Italy's national anthem was the
center of attention at a court hearing here called to
determine whether the device was an offense to the nation.
The object was the work of two local artists and had been
on display at the Bolzano Museum of Modern Art until it was
impounded several days ago.
Lawyers for the museum argued that the object should not
have been seized because the anthem, while having patriotic
and sentimental value, was not an official symbol of the
nation.
The prosecution, on the other hand, presented excerpts
from speechs by former president Carlo Azeglio Ciampi who
highlighted the patriotic nature of the song.
The prosecution also cited a decree issued this year by
the ex-government of Silvio Berlusconi which defined the
national anthem as an emblem of the state.
The judge said he would make his ruling in the coming
days.

Wow, things are exciting these days, about a week or so ago there was a fight in the women's room at the Parliament (about which gender goes where) and now we have to think about how a toilet plays its own delightful version of the Italian national anthem......the right to freedom of expression even if it is a big splash and ......

I love it!
I wonder if we can order toilets that play songs of our choice... or if we could program them to play various songs that we download off the Internet??

I just read a novel in which the main characters visited a historical house in England in which the toilets played "God Save the Queen". They seemed to take a different attitude and regard it as a great joke! I tend to think that it's rather unpatriotic and disrespectful myself! I like the idea of ordering a tune to be played when the toilet flushes though.

Best Regards,

Lisa

Oh, what harm is there in a toilet playing any kind of song? I think it's fun... and funny. Sure, there might be subversive things going on with God Save the Queen being played as poop swirls around, but think about it... a flushing toilet is a pretty innocuous way to make a statement, considering the way some people in the world register their complaints or dissatisfactions. Just think about the things going on all over the Middle East right now... I'll take a flushing toilet song any day.

Ok, Signore e Signori,
What is going on in this forum? I notice a certain fascination with this filthy subject here... TOILETS :o !!! I feel it has to do with peer pressure. And I can't take the pressure ! There is a lot o Pierinos in this forum, I am afraid.

What is going on? What kind of psychological issues are we really dealing with here ? I am appalled at the contents of this thread.;)
GET OVER IT GUYS !:D
Enough of dirty talk already !!

... but... but... I *like* toilets. :p

Okay, I don't LIKE toilets like I like, for instance, cars or historical monuments, but I think a singing toilet is kind of cool.

I mean... really, it's kind of cool.
