To be very frank, I did not listen to much Italian music before coming to this forum. But Paolo and others have posted some beautiful songs in this thread, and ever since then i have heard a few of the very famous ones, and now Lucio Battisti is my favorite! I hope to listen to more and more of them as time goes on:) Lauretta83 11-12-2007, 07:13 AM In Washington DC, where there's a pretty international population, I've heard Laura Pausini and Tiziano Ferro played quite a bit. But yeah, let's be honest and say that Italian music hasn't yet made its way to the USA... and most people confuse it with Spanish music. It should, though. :) stephaniealexis8 11-12-2007, 12:04 PM But yeah, let's be honest and say that Italian music hasn't yet made its way to the USA... It should, though. :) As a fan of Laura Pausini (who just won another Latin Grammy), Laura Bono, Irene Grandi and Simona Bencini, I totally agree. A couple of months ago, tired of American radio, I found an Italian pop online radio station. Since then I have not looked back (much to the amusement of my co-workers). I love the fact the beats are fresh and the music varied. A bonus is that it helps keep me motivated to learn the language (which I am doing ever so s-l-o-w-l-y.) Blonde 11-12-2007, 03:44 PM We hear much italian musin on radio, it's popular and people like it very much, but unfortunately all songs are rather old, there are absolutely no new songs. And it is very difficult to buy any CD with italian music that is popular in Italy now, of any new artists. One interesting thing - only after the concert of Andrea Bocelli, his new album appeared in the shops. :) I like songs of L. Pausini, T. Ferro, E. Ramazotti, A.Bocelli stephaniealexis8 11-12-2007, 05:02 PM We hear much italian musin on radio, it's popular and people like it very much, but unfortunately all songs are rather old, there are absolutely no new songs. I am sooo dating myself, aren't I? I found Amazon, Ebay and half.com to be a big help. |
