Patrizio Buanne once told his father that he wished that he’d lived in the 1950’s and 60’s. His father said to ‘Go away, I’m going to slap your face, we didn’t have the things you have now.’ But they did have the songs that Buanne loved and now he makes his living largely by reviving those wonderful old tunes.
Handsome and stylish as well as a lovely singer and Italian, Buanne is the kind of man most women dream of meeting. A romantic and a gentleman, he believes in buying the ladies presents, opening car doors and generally treating them well. He thinks that if a man treats a woman like a princess she will treat him like a king.
Probably all young Buanne has to do is sing to them! His career is certainly the most important thing to him at the moment.
Born in Vienna in 1978, Buanne lived in Naples for the first six years of his life. When they moved back to Austria, his father opened the first Italian restaurant in the city. Young Buanne, who loves to cook, wanted to follow in his footsteps originally but the thought horrified his father who told him that he’d chop his hands off if he did.
He gave his first performance at 11 dressed in a white coat and danced with a girl for the first time.
Buanne moved back to Italy after his father died and studied languages at the University of Rome. He became fluent in six languages but singing was his first love.
His first break happened when he sang for Pope John Paul 11 when he was only 17 and he always dreamed of singing the romantic songs of earlier eras again. University didn’t satisfy him.
After university he hosted TV shows but he wasn’t really happy doing this either. When he met producer Christian Seitz he told him his dream and was delighted to discover that Seitz had always wanted to produce a record of these great old classics. Together they spent all of their money on producing the album which was recorded at the great Abbey Road studios, made famous by the Beatles. Buanne sang with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Italian was a huge success and Buanne was able to continue pursuing his dream. He sees himself as an ambassador for Italian music and wants to bring the Italian language back with his songs because it is such a beautiful language. He said in an article at Classicalx.com that he also wants people to be aware that ‘Italian songs are more than Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli.’ He regards himself as being similar to Dean Martin – an old-style Italian crooner.
His second album, Forever Begins Tonight, was also extremely successful and includes songs that Buanne wrote himself. It also features an Italian version of Robbie Williams’s Angels. Buanne was the only singer allowed to do an Italian version of this song and it certainly sounds both more glamorous and more moving in Italian!
Buanne dedicates his singing to his father who died when he was only 17. He was so upset that he almost died himself with a perforated ulcer. He thinks of his father when he sings and how he told him that he would make the Buanne name famous throughout the world. The handsome singer certainly has achieved that!
