Hi all, my name's Chiara. I'm 27years old and I'm wanting to move to Italy in April '08. I'm looking to rent a room in Milan or Torino that's not too expensive 200-600 euro/month. I've been looking on various sites and am not having much luck finding anything. If anyone knows of any helpful and free sites I'd very much appreciate it!! :)

Ciao Chiara!

I rented a room in Milan this summer, near the center of the city (1 stop away from Centrale Train Station) for 350 Euros/month including utilities, so it's definitely possible. I heard the S. Agostino area was very popular for young people (near Naviglio, where all the apperitivos take place). Italians seem to be very easy going with the rent, and also for short-term stays.

Here was the site I used: http://milano.kijiji.it/

It's like Craigslist, and they also have different sections for all the major cities in Italy, such as Rome, Florence, Venice and Torino. Just register and post an ad... although I would wait until right before you go to start looking for housing, but still, this site will give you an idea of what you might be looking for.

Buona Fortuna :)
