Many people have complained about how they couldn't afford to buy clothes while living in Italy, especially as a student or young, 20-something tourist. Well, I beg to differ. As a student on a budget during my various stays in Italy, I was able to adhere to "La Bella Figura" by shopping at the following stores (especially during the summer SALES), staying on top of my money and not bankrupting myself. I enjoyed frequenting the following stores (yes, this includes lingerie too, some of which my Italian friends claimed could be worn out in public... hmmmm!):

Terranova - http://www.terranova-on-line.com
Calzedonia - http://www.calzedonia.it/
Intimissimi - http://www.intimissimi.com/
UPIM - http://www.upim.it/
Yammamay - http://www.yamamay.com/
EXTYN - http://www.extyn.it/
Sisley - http://www.sisley.com/Site/Index.php
Benneton Outlet - http://www.benetton.com/html/index.shtml
Bloom
Pink
Blu Sand Roma

And some non-Italian stores that were frequented by Italian women, young and old:

Promod - http://www.promod.eu/
H&M - http://www.hm.com
Zara - http://www.zara.com
Mango - http://www.mango.com
Bershka - http://www.bershka.com/

These stores often had something on sale no matter the time of year, and when the summer sales in July picked up... WATCH OUT!

I was also a big fan of those outlet shoe stores (mostly found in Milan) where last season's "made in Italy" shoes were yours for the taking for a mere 15 to 25 Euros (got a nice pair of sandals for Euro 15 this summer in Milan)... the chain store MM Shoes which is the more "trendier" version of Payless (but with similar prices) and of course, shopping at the market. Gotta love it!

Anyone else have any other suggestions on bargain shopping for those of us poor students on a budget?

:p

Oh yes, that is a great store too... =) I was thinking about it yesterday but couldn't remember the name of it.

BTW, does anyone know of any websites (besides Ebay) that will ship to the US from any of the stores listed above? Most of the websites don't have an online shopping option, and if they do (ie. Promod) they only ship to the UK and EU. Grrrrrr......
