I joined this community because I wanted a place to go and get accurate information on Italy and its cities. Especially Rome, because this is where we will be going hopefully next year. I also want to learn the Italian language. I have just started an online tutorial http://www.mangolanguages.com/program.php, I hope to at least be able to ask for a glass of wine properly ......lol :D

Joined that as well... nice! And they offer plenty of other language training as well. Might also try Before You Know It - Italian (http://www.byki.com/), which you can download to your PC and/or PDA devices. The advanced (for-pay) versions let you edit and add your own vocab as well.

Being able to download into PC is just such an amazing thing. I put the podcasts I download on to my ipod, and am listening to Italian while I travel, take a taxi, or even when I shop for groceries!

At this site you can download short podcasts that talk enetertainingly about Italian culture, and teach Italian that would help you get around in Italy like asking for directions, hiring a car, or ordering at a restaurant!
