Hi,

I am new to this Forum so hope someone can guide me in the right direction.
I have a friend who is part Italian and as such she spends her holidays in the Tuscany region of Italy each year. This year she brought back with her a pack of mixed herbs which you mix with olive oil and then stir into pasta. The name on the packet is Pulcino but I believe that is the area from where she bought the herbs. My stocks are now diminishing rather rapidly and I need to replenish but am having difficulty finding anything in our own supermarkets even under the Italian specialist foods. Can anyone help?

Hi Kath,

I looked around and I couldn't find your exact product, but a quick google search for "Italian Herb Mix" found a few websites selling similar products.

I suggest that you make your own while the warm weather is still around and fresh herbs are at the supermarkets. You might not be able to find exactly the same combination of herbs, but what you do find will be fresh - and fresh herbs with good extra virgin olive oil can't be beat in my opinion. The secret to "authentic" Italian cooking is using whatever ingredients are the freshest available.

Good luck in your search and if you decide to make your own mix - let us know how it came out.

Justin

Many thanks for your response.

My daughter is currently on holiday in Switzerland and travelled over to Italy yesterday. I was amazed to receive a phone call from her advising she had found the herbs I was looking for and is bringing them back to England for me together with all sorts of other Italian goodies - you may gather I am a foodie & adore cooking, particularly authentic Italian and at the opposite end of the spectrum autentic Indian

Kathy, if you can distinguish what is in the mix, would you mind passing it on?:)
