I have never seen Squeegee men in Singapore, and have never heard anyone saying that there should be some.....are these roadside car-washers common in all Italian cities?

This is an example on what is happening in Italy. Most of these people who do these things are illegal immigrants in Italy who should not even be there in the first place. This is only the beginning on how they will disrupt and try to take over Italian society. It figures that bleeding heart leftist politicians there would feel sorry for them. I wonder how they will feel when Florence, a Renaissance jewel will become unsafe to even walk the streets. Why don't Italy take care of their own people instead of letting all these other peoples in their land. Most of these people should go back to where they came from.

The problem of the illegal immigrants in Italy is really big it isn't in small cities like mine, but in Florence, Rome and others today is intolerable. A law permits they coming in our country in illegal way and for living they do any job, also clean the windscreen when cars stop , causing great danger to drivers.
The economic gap betweens the various areas of Italy are also reflected in the way in which migrants have entered the labour market. In the northern-eastern regions where the unemployment rate is very low, immigrants work mainly in industrial activities and are employed in more or less regular positions.
In the South immigrants worker are employed in seasonal work and in clandestine underground economy, particularly in agriculture whose number is hard to quantify ( about 1 milion illegal immigrants). Their position means that some of these people maybe perceived as being engaged in criminal activities such as drug-pushing, prostitution and petty crime. This has led a part of population to have intolerant attitudes toward immigrants.
A new law(August 2002)came into force for the regularisation of the position for tho types of irregular immigrant as domestic workers and home-helper, however, the law not eradicate the problem.Italy's southern coasts and islands are a favourite landing are for thousands of desperate people, transported by criminals to Italy and then through to Italy to elsewhere in Europe.
In very recent time other unpleasant episodes occured between immigrants and italian people, our laws are too permissive and let me tell you, we need of this decree.
